Mimmo helps you learn American Sign Language. To do that we need a little data about you and how you learn. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Mimmo ("we", "us") is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at help@mimmolearn.com.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and profile picture if you sign in with Apple, Google or email. Sign in with Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one.
- Onboarding answers: why you're learning, who you want to sign with, your level and your daily goal, and a first name you choose to give for a loved one. We use these to shape your plan.
- Messages: anything you send us by email, and feature ideas you post on the in-app feedback board.
Information created as you learn
- Lessons and practice sessions completed, answers, scores, stars, streaks, medals, and the signs you know or favorite.
- Your reminder settings and a push notification token for your device.
Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics: which screens you open and which features you use, with your device model, operating system, app version and approximate region, to understand what works and fix what doesn't.
- Purchases: whether you have a subscription, its type and its status. We never see your card details; Apple handles payment.
- Advertising measurement: if you allow tracking when iOS asks, the Meta (Facebook) SDK receives app events such as installs and purchases with your device's advertising identifier, so we can measure our ads. If you decline, no advertising identifier is shared.
What stays on your phone
The camera is used as a mirror on signing steps. Video you film of yourself ("takes") is saved on your device only and never uploaded to us. You can delete takes in the app at any time.
3. How we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide Mimmo (performance of our contract with you): your account, lessons, progress sync across devices, subscriptions and support.
- To send reminders you asked for (consent): daily practice notifications. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
- To improve the app (our legitimate interest): product analytics, fixing crashes and bugs, and keeping the feedback board free of abuse.
- To measure advertising (consent, through Apple's tracking prompt).
- To meet legal obligations, such as bookkeeping for purchases.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with providers that help us run Mimmo, under data processing agreements:
- Supabase (database) and Fly.io (servers), in the United States
- Cloudflare (lesson videos and images)
- Upstash (scheduling reminders) and Resend (email)
- Apple (sign in, payments, push notifications) and Google (sign in)
- RevenueCat and Superwall (subscriptions and the subscription screen)
- PostHog (product analytics, hosted in the EU)
- Meta (advertising measurement, only if you allow tracking)
- OpenAI (checking posts on the feedback board for abuse; only the text of the post is sent)
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
5. International transfers
Some providers are in the United States. Where your data leaves the EU/EEA, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete it from our systems within 30 days, apart from anything we must keep by law (such as purchase records for bookkeeping). Analytics are kept in a form that is no longer linked to your account.
7. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Delete your account in the app (Profile, Settings, your name, Delete account) or email us at help@mimmolearn.com. We answer within 30 days.
If you think we've handled your data wrongly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
8. Children
Mimmo is meant for people aged 13 and over. Families often learn together, and a parent can use the app with a child, but children under 13 should not create their own account. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS) and is stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it to run Mimmo. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the authorities if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
